When participants are volunteers from psychology courses at a university, is this convenience sampling?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin in volunteers | 1 Comment »

I have to give a presentation of a research article where the participants were student volunteers from psychology courses at a large university. What type of sampling is this?

I will try to find out from the University. Can you please tell the name of that University.

What kind of interview questions would i get for applying to…?

Posted on July 14th, 2010 by admin in center of volunteers | 1 Comment »

a community center
i applied to volunteer at my local community center and i got accepted for an interview tomorrow.
i was wondering what kind of questions i would be faced with, so i can better prepare myself

i applied to volunteer with fundraising and supervising sports in the community center.
thanks! :)

Usually, for the community jobs, there is a team interviewing you to get a feeling for your ability to handle yourself. They will do a criminal background check also. I really don’t know how you prepare other than have your family sit facing you and throw questions at you. Then, you look squarely at them and answer. The community center won’t want an irresponsible person or strange type working with children in any capacity. So, you have to be very confident and soft spoken. Also, I have noticed that when it comes to working with children in summer jobs, the staff is quite lenient, so if it is like that in your community, then, stick to that persona. Check out the pools or classes ahead if you can to see their philosophy. That way, you will have an idea about what they are seeking in personnel.

What are my chances of getting into Princeton?

Posted on July 11th, 2010 by admin in volunteers of america education center | No Comments »

Adam Huttler is founder and executive director of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit organization that serves a national community of artists.

The traditional non-profit model is under attack. Rattling our tin cup for grants is no longer enough. Funders ask us to be business-like, but what does that really mean?

In this talk, Adam Huttler will discuss some emerging models for reinventing the way nonprofit cultural organizations do business. He will consider legal strategies, like the L3C and fiscal sponsorship. He will discuss structural approaches, including systems-centric cluster management. And he will consider the philosophical underpinnings of the whole conversation Who are our customers? Is professionalism really a good thing? When should infrastructure be outsourced?

Throughout the province the tourist can find traditional items like the clocks and watches of Yantai, the porcelain of Zibo, the kites of Weifang, the shell-carving and beer of Qingdao host of the 2008 Olympics sailing events.

There are daily flights from Beijing to Yantai, less than an hour, costing less than $80. Weekend excursions can be arranged to visit the Forbidden City, the Great Wall and Tiananmen Square.
