Should volunteers pay for travel and uniforms ?

Posted on December 14th, 2009 by admin in volunteers | 3 Comments »

Volunteers for helping others at hospitals, churches, and charitable organisations, are often made to feel as though it is a privilege, or that the volunteer would not get paid work anyway. Any further experiences on this occurance.

Volunteers should not have to pay for anything. I understand having to buy a t-shirt for $10, but anything more than that is ridiculous. You shouldn’t have to pay to volunteer.

What are my chances of getting into Princeton?

My weighted GPA was 4.56 last time I checked. Also, what should I focus on in the coming months to enhance any areas of weakness in my credentials?

If your unweighted GPA is 4.0 or close to it, you stand just about as good a chance as any regular applicant, which is under 10%.

You should perform outstandingly in at least two classes, so that you can obtain outstanding letters of recommendation. You should also earn all A grades from now until you graduate. You may get in by being selected from the waiting list, so your spring grades may be important.

Good luck.

How do I go about getting police rights for an animal rescue center?

Posted on December 14th, 2009 by admin in center of volunteers | 2 Comments »

I live in Australia and want to open an animal rescue center similar to the RSPCA (or in America, the ASPCA). The RSPCA and ASPCA officers have the power to arrest or put in custody someone who has abused an animal, or to fine them, and stuff like that.

How do I go about getting similar powers for my animal rescue center and the volunteers?

The Australian RSPCA officers do not have the power to arrest anyone, they have to call for police assistance if they want someone arrested

How would i volunteer at a children’s cancer center?

Posted on December 14th, 2009 by admin in volunteer center of | 3 Comments »

i wanna be a pediatrictian for cancer patients so i want to volunteer at a center.

Every centre will have their own individual policies and guidelines to follow with regard to people who wish to volunteer. Therefore, the best approach would be to contact your local cancer centre and tell them about what you wish to do and they will be in the best position to give you advise on exactly what to do.

Its an incredibly kind thought.

All the very best

CHAN:
As we’ve been reporting, to date, millions of people have been renouncing the Chinese communist regime. This past weekend, celebrations were held to mark a milestone of 37 million resignations. And apparently, in Flushing, New York, organized crowds have been repeatedly harassing the Quit the CCP Center since this weekend.

Estimates of as many as a few hundred Chinese gathered on the opposite side of Center to threaten and intimidate the supporters of those who are renouncing the communist party. Now, here’s our report from Flushing, New York.

STORY:
On May 20, volunteers helping people renounce their membership to the Chinese Communist Party set up their booth in Queens, New York just as they have for the past four years. About ten minutes after setting up their booth, Chinese people started to gather. A few from the crows began cursing at the volunteers and then went on to destroy service center banners. They even physically attacked one a worker, cutting him on the ear.

Police had to intervene and separate the two groups with barriers. They arrested one of the violent aggressors.
Thanks to police efforts the situation was kept under control. Later people in the Chinese crowd threw water bottles at service center supporters. Police then arrested another protester.

Behind the crowd a Falun Gong practitioner with her baby who said she wanted to get into the library was also pushed by the crowd of Chinese. These acts shocked a passerby.

“Quote”

In the afternoon Congressman John Liu came to try to calm down the situation. He warned that intolerance and violence aren’t acceptable in the United States.

“Quote”

The situation remained tense until the evening.
