Where in NYC/ Queens can I volunteer in a mental health center for teenagers?

Posted on January 11th, 2010 by admin in volunteer center of | No Comments »

I’m 17 and I’m going to be a freshman in college. For the summer, I’m trying to find somewhere I can volunteer, in order to help teenagers with such problems at depression and suicide. Any ideas of places to volunteer?

This community action group may be able to steer you in the right direction, and thank you for volunteering…
The Jackson Heights Action Group is a non-profit organization founded 29 years ago as a vehicle for neighborhood residents and small business people of Jackson Heights, Corona, and East Elmhurst to work together and assist individuals in need, regardless of their origin, creed, sex, color, or nationality.
The Jackson Height Action Group believes that the best way to help ourselves is by helping others. For many years the Action Group has been doing everything possible to integrate new immigrants into the main stream of the American life, by offering them programs free of charge.

EMPLOYMENT REFERRAL
EDUCATION: ENGLISH, SPANISH, SKILLS TRAINIG SPORTS – The J.H..A.G. provides basket ball and soccer programs. Youth from 12 to 21 are always welcome. Mgr Raymond W. What are good ways to recruit non-profit volunteers?

Posted on January 1st, 2010 by admin in volunteers | 4 Comments »

I do volunteer work for a group that is non-profit and mails educational books to people in prison across the country. We are looking for new volunteers to replace some that have moved away, gotten busy with other things, etc.

What is an innovative way to get people interested in volunteering with us?

You need to appeal to the younger generation, because today all young people want something good to put on their resume.

I would print up some flyers (remembering to print on them that volunteer work looks great on a resume) and ask highschool principals and college deans if you can hang some in their school.

Some schools even give school credits to kids who volunteer a certain # of hrs., so that appeals to them also with having to spend less time in the classroom.

Good luck!

Do i have a chance to become president?

Posted on January 1st, 2010 by admin in volunteers of america education center | 7 Comments »

I want to become president but how do i get there?

Help, i am an african american convict who originated from kenya.
I used to volunteer for a racist black church. i used to sing hallelujah and Ghetto Gospel in church. I eat fried chicken, cornbread, and koolaid regularly. I have a 40bottle right next to me right now and some weed in my 1988 broke down Buick right now with some 22inch rims but cant afford my smog check. My highest education level is 7th-8th grade but At the age of 13 and was sent to prison for 25 years for murder but only served 8 years. So how do i become president? I know i will get alot of votes from black people because i am black. So is it possible for me to become president or FBI? I am 22 years old now. Do i just go back to my middle school for more education before applying to become a president? Can i get the president’s job application at the welfare and housing center?
3 minutes ago – 3 days left to answer.

PS. my 4 year old son told me before the election, "vote for obama daddy!" i was so proud he wanted me to vote for obama just because he’s black. Now we’re going to have the greatest president who’s going to mock america by going into the 09 presidency while using his full name Barrack Hussein Obama. I bet the terriosts in the middle east are having a grenade party right now.

bush won twice!
so any idiot can win!

For those who volunteering at a daycare center?

Posted on January 1st, 2010 by admin in center of volunteers | 1 Comment »

Has anyone volunteered at a daycare center before? Did you enjoy it? What was your experience like? What did you enjoy/hate most/least?

I loved it.

You might not be able to pick up the kids(its a state law)
but you can help set up at lunch, play with them etc…

It is a great expernice and helps you get a job later on,
