Why is compensating volunteers to relinquish their seats on overbooked flights more efficient than a policy of first-come, first served?

Because everyone ends up happy this way, the volunteer gets payed and put on a later flight and the person who needed a seat gets what he wants. It’s win win.

How is having overbooked flights more efficient than knowing the number of seats you have and how many people have bought tickets so there is no issue of overbooking? That seems a lot better.

I just got an application the other day to volunteer there and they said you need to pass a drug test, so I was wondering what kind of tests they use there. And don’t just guess, I’d like an accurate response please!!!!

How do I volunteer online?

I am a cyber school student as of this year, and I would like to volunteer from home. Where do I start, and which organization should I choose? Anyone have any advise?

VolunteerMatch posts some "virtual" opportunities, but many are mislabeled as "virtual" when, in fact, you have to be onsite for them. Read through them carefully before applying.

Idealist also lists some virtual opportunities; do a keyword search on the words virtual or online.

The UN’s Online Volunteering service lists online volunteering opportunities:
http://www.onlinevolunteering.org

One thing to keep in mind: all of these online opportunities require expertise. You need to be able to do something that requires a skill: designing a slide show presentation, designing a database, translating a document, doing online research, writing an article, etc.
