How do I find dental schools that need volunteers with dental problems?

Posted on April 15th, 2010 by admin in volunteers | 2 Comments »

I was told by my boss that dental schools sometimes need volunteers with dental problems for pratice. I can not afford dental ins anymore and have some bad teeth and they are starting to hurt more and more, but I do not want to loose them! I would love to volunteer!!!

Contact the American Dental Association or do a search on dental schools and email them.

As an aside, I couldn’t afford dental work either, but I arranged to make payments in advance with my dentist until half of the work was paid for then she did the work. Of course I will continue the payments until I am paid up with her as I am very glad that she was willing to do this for me.

Call and ask around. You have nothing to lose.

When did the Australian government announce that it would be sending volunteers to fight in the Korean war?

Posted on April 13th, 2010 by admin in volunteers | 1 Comment »

I know it was announced on July 26th 1950 that the 3rd Battalion of the RAR would be sent, but when was it announced that volunteers would be sent?

I’m not sure it was announced formally, volunteers just turned up for that war.

You can read about it here:

How do volunteers make a difference?

Posted on April 11th, 2010 by admin in volunteers | 3 Comments »

I’m writing a short essay on how volunteers make a difference…and I would like your opinion on how volunteers make a differnece. Thanks

My husband had non-Hodgkins lymphoma, cancer in his bone marrow so he didn’t make new blood cells. For a time, he had microangiopathic hemaelytic anemia, active blood destruction. To give him a chance for remission and then for a bone marrow transplant from a relative to work, he had the blood donations of 200-300 volunteers. It didn’t work long-term, but they gave us 18 more months together–most of them good ones

These weren’t people who’d lined up for him. They had lined up at church, at work, at school, maybe at a mall and donated a pint of blood because it was the right thing to do, or because everyone else was, or because of the meals served afterward. (This was in Kansas where small town donations get a full meal, not just juice and a cookie.) That’s how volunteers made a difference for us.

What legel issues come into play with have volunteers work for company?

Posted on April 9th, 2010 by admin in volunteers | 1 Comment »

I want to hold an event in my community and need the help of volunteers to make this possible. What do I need to take into consideration to avoid any legel problems and is there any usefull sources for laws regarding hiring volunteers?thanks everyone

I’m a lawyer and I work with 3 volunteer organizations. The only legal issue that might come into play is the need for liability insurance during the event if a volunteer is injured or injuries someone else. That might not even be necessary depending on the type of event. Assess the liklihood of injury against the cost of a short-term liability policy.

The Irish Volunteer 11

irish-american civil war song

My name is Tim McDonald, I’m a native of the Isle,
I was born among old Erin’s bogs when I was but a child.
My father fought in ” ‘Ninety-eight,” for liberty so dear;
He fell upon old Vinegar Hill, like and Irish volunteer.
Then raise the harp of Erin, boys, the flag we all revere–
We’ll fight and fall beneath its folds, like Irish volunteers!
Chorus–Then raise the harp, etc.

When I was driven form my home by an oppressor’s hand,
I cut my sticks and greased my brogues, and came o’er to this land.
I found a home an many friends, and some that I love dear;
Be jabbers! I’ll stick to them like bricks and an Irish volunteer.
Then fill your glasses up, my boys, and drink a hearty cheer,
To the land of our adoption and the Irish volunteer!
Chorus–Then fill your glasses, etc.

Now when the traitors in the south commenced a warlike raid,
I quickly then laid down my hod, to the devil went my spade!
To a recruiting-office then I went, that happened to be near,
And joined the good old “Sixty-ninth,” like and Irish volunteer.
Then fill the ranks and march away!–no traitors do we fear;
We’ll drive them all to blazes, says the Irish volunteer.
Chorus–Then fill the ranks, etc.
When the Prince of Wales came over here, and made a hubbaboo,
Oh, everybody turned out, you know, in gold and tinsel too;
But then the good old Sixty-ninth didn’t like these lords or peers–
They wouldn’t give a d–n for kings, the Irish volunteers!
We love the land of Liberty, its laws we will revere,
“But the divil take nobility!” says the Irish volunteer!
Chorus–We love the land, etc.
Now if the traitors in the South should ever cross our roads,
We’ll drive them to the divil, as Saint Patrick did the toads;
We’ll give them all short nooses that come just below the ears,
Made strong and good of Irish hemp by Irish volunteers.
Then here’s to brave McClellan, whom the army now reveres–
He’ll lead us on to victory, the Irish volunteers.
Chorus–Then here’s to brave, etc.
Now fill your glasses up, my boys, a toast come drink with me,
May Erin’s Harp and the Starry Flag united ever be;
May traitors quake, and rebels shake, and tremble in their fears,
When next they meet the Yankee boys and Irish volunteers!
God bless the name of Washington! that name this land reveres;
Success to Meagher and Nugent, and their Irish volunteers!
Chorus–God bless the name, etc.

How do I get volunteers for my non-profit organization.?

Posted on April 7th, 2010 by admin in volunteers | 6 Comments »

I have a charitable organization and it is difficult to find dedicated and sincere volunteers.

Try puting up posters at your campus or school, explaining what the organisations all about. Try community centers and religous institutions too. Im your stil having trouble, try teaming up with a similar existing organisation that already has a volunteer pool.
