I am one of the directors of The Peace Center. What is a good name for our workers and volunteers?

This is serious people. I have looking thesauruses all night long. I need some creative input here. Our Group is a lot like the Peace Corps without the government control. We are International and the first such organisation on the WWW.
I like Peace Makers. That is the right track, but I believe we can do better. Please, I need your best thinking on this one. I do agree that the name needs to be recognisable globally. Consider Latin, Sanskrit, or Aramaic?
Here is a link to our Yahoo Group for the Word-Smiths out there to find the perfect match. Thank you, Salamat, Mahalo

Opifices Pacis – framers, artisans of peace

I don’t know if thats the type of thing you were looking for. You could find a couple of words that relate to your organization and make an acronym out of the words like:
PETA= People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals…

Just as an example (even though it might not be a good one) you could have one like:

    Volunteer
    for the
    Alliance
    of
    Humanity =VAH’s

Worker for the Alliance of Humanity: WAH’s

I do not know enough about your organization to come up with too much, and I know these probably aren’t of any help….but if it is any concelation I wish you and your organization the best.

How about the ESPERANTO word for peace? After all, Esperanto was meant to become the overall language, based on many different languages in this world. That would be PACO.

And make that stand for something like:

    - Peace And Co-operation Overall
    - Peaceful Alternatives Center One
    - Peace And Community Objectives

    etc……. you fill it in

    Good luck on your initiative!

(I worked on peace initiatives in East Timor for many years and only have been home since January. I miss the scene!)

Have you checked this website? Many languages for translations or expressions:
