p.s. , i’m starting my senior year this fall

Asian does not help you. Asians are the LARGEST ethnic group at UCLA (before Caucasians, Latinos, or blacks).
GPA isn’t nearly as important any more because there is so much grade inflation. Class ranking, however, does matter. Are you in the top 10%?
SAT is low for UCLA. Average for freshman = 1770 to 2060. Retake it as many times are you are able to.
Extra-curriculars: It’s good that you show leadership and consistency. Can you document those volunteer hours? Are you part of a religious or community organization? The school activities are great, but community involvement is even better.
What is your major going to be? ~Hint: If you are undecided between two, choose the one with fewer applicants. You can change later.
Good luck! Remember to have a backup or two (or three).

That is a difficult thing to judge. You can view the statistics of admitted freshman for Fall 2008 here, however: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof08.htm

Alright, you need you improve your SAT score some more. preferrabely 1900, but you might get in with mid 1800’s. The good thing is that your ACT seems to be in the range of the middle 50% of students at UCLA (according to collegeboard) the thing that will REALLY hurt you is that you only took 3 AP classes. I know many people who o to that school and they took at least 7 or 8 AP classes. That could really break your chances to get in. you also need to bring up that GPA a little. so hopefully you can get in on you extracurriculars and your ethinicity, but your GPA and your amount of AP classes will hurt you so i recommend taking some AP classes your senior year to show them that you are willing to challenge yourself. good luck!!
