i volunteer for my local crisis center. I take calls and help people with their problems, most are suicidal, but you get a little bit of everything. I want to start volunteering for a program that goes out to hospitals and they help women who have just been raped.

What are some good ways to compensate volunteers to make there experience volunteering a good one?

Like volunteering to plan an event, or big gathering.. more like work experience that kind of thing. so like a gift bag or ideas like that

What type of Volunteering are you talking about? I always though the word Volunteer meant that you were giving of your time and effort without the thoughts of compensation and doing it to better the sake of humanity or a cause.

–GPA: 3. 62 (unweighted)
–ACT: 29 (composite)
–SAT: 1760 (retaking in fall)
–Extra-curriculars: Varsity girls golf (3 years, captain), Varsity Track, Friday Night Live (leadership club), Tiger woods Learning Center (volunteer, and member since 2006), Key Club
–APs so far: 3, Honors: 8, taking 4-5 more senior year

Well, your GPA, SAT, and ACT scores are below average. You also need 2 SAT Subject Tests as well to apply to all UC’s. Your extracurricular activities are good, I would just work on improving your GPA and test scores. But I like your chances and would recommend that you definitely apply. Good Luck!

With their Shelter facing closure, that is essence the question being asked by Macdonald Youth Services’(MYS) in their video entitled “Where Will Your Children Go … to Be Safe?”. The two and one half minute video, released at a news conference today, features interviews with a former Youth Resource Centre/Shelter client and MYS’s Executive Director, Dr. Erma Chapman.

The video was shot/produced by Derek Eidse, copy created by Pennsylvania-based online volunteer Shawn Kohn and voiced by MYS Michigan-based online volunteer Debbie Grattan.

Prayer Vigil for the Earth Washington DC October 10th 2009

The Prayer Vigil for the Earth is where people of diverse faiths, cultures, backgrounds and ages come together to practice peace with self, peace with others, and peace with the Earth with One Mind, One Voice, One Heart and One Prayer.

The host tradition is Native American, joined by spiritual leaders and representatives from major faiths, spiritual beliefs and anyone who wants to be part of this magical, exhilarating and peaceful experience.

Each year, a sacred fire burns continuously in the center of a circle of tipis, African and Christian alters, a Jewish sukkah, a Tibetan stupa and other religious traditions’ symbols. There is a labyrinth, a Prayer Grove, a children’s activity area and other offerings.

Prayers and ceremonies are continuous for 33 hours beginning Saturday at sunrise and concluding midday Sunday.

Is there an online organization that anyone can volunteer for to help stop cyber sex offenders?

All the sites I’ve found are looking for people with police backround, but I think if I tell a grown man online that I’m a 13 year old little girl and he advances on to me, I don’t have to be a professional to know that this man is most likely a cyber sex offender. I want to know if there is an organization that I can join to help stop these creeps out there. You would think that if they want this crime to stop, they would take as many volunteers as they can get.
