How do volunteers separate oil from water in the ocean?

I have a project, and I need to know at least 4 different ways that volunteers separate oil from water in the ocean.
P.S.
I know that oil and water separate naturally, but I needed to know what is the best way to take them apart from each other.

First off – they do not seperate the oil and water. Ma Nature does that naturally as the two do not mix.

While the oil is floating:
natural evaporation
containment and skimming
sorbents — large sponges that absorb the oil from the water
in situ burning
dispersants
